Health problems associated with severe obesity include diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, fatty liver (non-alcoholic) and asthma. With weight loss, by diet and exercise, it is often possible to improve or resolve these, but only a few individuals are able sustain this long term. For the vast majority of people, surgery has shown to be the only durable tool for losing weight and keeping it off long term.
Gastric restrictive procedures, such as the Lap Band®, and Sleeve Gastrectomy, have been shown to have good long term success without the malnutrition syndromes associated with the Gastric Bypass.
Our center includes fluoroscopy for your adjustments for channel calibration and pouch evaluation, a licensed nutritionist on staff, as well as the availability of psychologists specializing in eating disorders. We try to see our patients monthly the first year, as well as monthly in office support groups and quarterly work-shops. All are part of our acclaimed Tru-You Aftercare® Program.
Patients find that they have increased energy, improved self-esteem, improved relationships and an improved outlook on life. |
